I just learned how to hack 90% of Mac users

So I'm not much of a security finatic. I'd much rather have ease of use than have to worry about security, so it's not hard if Pla and Clayton wanted to hack my laptop. I thought Macs were pretty secured and locked down. Why do I need encryption? It will slow down my computer. It turns out that it's pretty easy to change a password. If the computer is unencrypted, and firevault is off, which it is on like 95% of macs, you can launch single user mode, change the password, and launch any scripts you want because you have root access.

I was utterly shocked. I knew how to fix it though. I turned on firevault and enabled a firmware password, which solved my security problems. Still, I thought and hoped accessing my computer would be a lot harder than it actually was. Then I enabled the firmware password on Clayton's mac, and we declared truce. I could do a lot of evil on a lot of computers. What do kids get when they go to college? Macs. What do kids not do when they get a mac? Care about security.

Apple should encrypt their macs by default. Single user mode is nice though, but almost too easy for attackers to attack. I wonder if there's a linux variant. That would make sense.

Take away: Encrypt your computers before I get my hands on them and put smiley face poos all over your desktop.
