Dating Isn't About Similarities, It's About Differences.

I've been asking a lot of people about their relationship experiences recently. Not everyone - but only people I trust who have been doing it a while; mostly upper-classmen. 80% of it is stuff I've learned from my parents, an additional 10% comes from my dating experience in high school, but 10% of it is brand new to me.

I could write an entire thing about how I'd always think that someone needed to a lot like me to date. If I ride motorcycles, that would be a turn-off... 80% of anyone who doesn't ride a motorcycle and thinks they're dangerous (which, they are).

It's obvious to me now, but you don't have to date someone exactly like you. If one person performs  romantic gestures and the other person doesn't, the two can still be right for each other. In fact, they are - because I just talked to a couple who did. It's also easy for me to forget that people are people. I stereotype people a lot, and usually, I'm right, but only to a certain degree. If someone never went on a hike, that doesn't make them boring. It just makes different. I certainly don't want to date someone exactly like me. Or maybe I do... it would certainly make world domination easier.

More on this... for another day. When will that be? Probably tomorrow.
