The Importance of Having Someone Shoot Down Your Ideas
So I was talking with Pla and Clayton over a 4 hour bus ride to Indiana and back. Not for four hours, but for probably one to two hours of the entire eight hour time period I spent in a bus. It was a nice bus and I brought plenty of stuff to do like homework, movies, my 3DS which has games that I have not even played yet. However, I'm talking is always a bit better.
Pla and Clayton are looking for the billion dollar idea for a year or two, and they haven't found anything. I though I had seen some million dollar ideas like my Alphasmart idea, but they shot it down, and that's a good thing. They showed me that it wouldn't make sense, and people wouldn't buy it. I bought it, but they really don't think it would make sense. I forgot why, and they gave me specifics, but they told me that nobody would every buy it. At the premium of $100, you can buy a cheap Chromebook to write stuff on. Then I worked through my other ideas, and they were mostly shot down. I wasn't anywhere near ready to gain investors and start the idea, but I'm glad I talked it over with them.
Take away: Play a version of Devil's advocate and ask other people to shoot down your idea in every way possible. Also ask them to fact check everything to make sure what you're saying is possible and plausable. All of mine got shot down, but I'm glad they were shot down before I fired the gun.
