[Personal] Dear Reply All, Please Expand Email Debt Forgiveness Day To Include Letters
I just called reply all and left them a message... I typed this out so I didn't screw up the call, but I screwed up the call anyways, and this is only sort-of what I said, but I'm keeping this here for my memories:
Hey guys,
I'm Mike Chase, and I'm pretty young. I'm a millenial born in 1999, but I still use snail mail a lot. I went from being an Eor to feeling almost like a popular kid in our little theater environment. I just run lights with other members of the tech crew, and cast is sometimes overdramatic, but I really think the snale mail made a great positive impact on everyone.
One thing I would really like to do is make April 30th a not so akward to send letters either. The old fashion snail mail one that kills trees, but has an excellent return on investment by making me feel like the most popular kid in the world, according to me. Now despite me always feeling the positivity effect, which then adds to another cognitive screwed up way of thinking, the overconfidence effect and the optimism bias. Maybe the negativity effect too. As it turns out, and I didn't even notice that 8 out of the ten letters were addressed to girls that at one point or another I had the hots for and had the halo effect. It's kind of a result of me being alone and isolated a little too much in the lighting control booth and watching all the beautiful actors sing songs, and it really makes me sound like an idiot when you have no idea what I'm talking about, I'm sure.
But anyways, gettting back to the point before I want you guys to broaden Email Debt Forgiveness Day. I want you to make it maybe message debt forgiveness day or something more broad so I can write send my love letter to a person I'm only friends (loosely) to a person who I had a crush on and felt that halo effect at 100% and I was twitterpated and everything, but still trying to play it off cool, and I'm still sounding like an idiot. Since you created the holiday, I believe you have the power to make modifications to it and have the authority to change it into "Message Debt Forgiveness Day" so I can send my letter to the person I had a crush on so we can both laugh at it.
There's a few other small (not podcast worthy) stories involving letters that doing this would ultimately benefit me, and probably a whole bunch of other people.
